I remember a low mileage Dakar 3.0l on here a while ago, was on Ebay, someone went to see it and it was a real dog, the same car popped up a few weeks later at a dealers for double the money that it sold for with a flash over respray, it could well be the above car
I viewed one near me for a guy down south. It was horrible.

The 3.0 is the one that has a respray to hide all sorts.
@Sean d what can I say but I am not going to rise to your derogatory colour comments :yuck:

Love it or hate it. It’s a desirable colour and the only one I can think of that attracts a material premium on selling price.

When someone talks about a Dakar it seems like they are referring to more than the colour and as much about the character of the car.

I’m not sure it’s my favourite colour. I think Estoril Blue is. But it’s joint 2nd with other unusual colours like Turkish Green.

When I bought mine as a mini project (knackered clutch and still waiting in line) I intended to sell it on in due course after loving it for a while. But with only 73k miles, full service history and low owners I think it’s more of a keeper :)

I half to agree owning both a Dakar and a Turquoise green zed really love both colours but the Dakar has a presence and still referred to as the Dakar in our household whereas the other one is referred to as Lynne's zed most of the time .
Think part of this is that the original Dakar yellow harks back to old M3's and has iconic ties to the sporting side of BMW cars even now on Dakar 2 painted cars the ones you see tend to be individuals or M models .
Plus Dakar is a really photogenic colour on the zed they can look equally great on a really wet day as on a bright summer day.

That's what I was implying. A bit like Jumbo jets and Concorde being Jumbo jets and Concordes rather than just aeroplanes.

I can see that as an observer rather than a still to be fully fledged active member of the Dakar club :)

Well it's a toss-up between the Dakar and the Sapphire Black 3.0 Sport as to which one gets the attention next.

But I need to complete the Topaz 2.2 Sport first which I put the new loom into. That has an opportunity to be a spanker so I started dropping the rear end for a full rebuild before the weather and lack of daylight hours put a spanner in the works.

Unlike the 3.0 litre though, the Dakar just needs the clutch sorting before being perfectly useable. Then I'll have it off the road again at a later date for a proper refresh. So I'm hoping it will be back in action in time for the summer.

The Dakar 3.0 in Yorkshire has possibly the worst MOT history I’ve seen.

I do know of another local to me, in fact I was sat in it last weekend. I went to view but decided I wanted a stronger colour. Contact Mark the owner of Rockvale.co.uk. Car is on his website but not yet advertised elsewhere.

I do take MOTs with a small pinch of salt. Some items anyway. There are significantly differing standards of application across test stations with some employing a large amount of backside covering.

But I think we're all broadly agreed that 3.0 needs approaching with care.

This one is POA and there are no number plates on it. All his other prices are sky high .

I didn’t get the reg, but the car had only just come in. I think it is going to be around 10k - 11k

I agree the cars there are top price, but the owner is passionate and told me he sorts everything before they go out. So the usual, like brake pipes and he fits a new water pump to each one.

Seemed a very genuine and knowledgable guy.

Well for me Hellrot 2 red or Dakar were the only two colours I considered, with red being my preferred colour. Anything else would have needed a re-spray!
