@mrscalex did you sell your Dakar
No, Maycee is still part of the fleet. But there were 2 cars ahead of her for the refresh treatment. She’s probably a good couple of months off being front of the queue.

I then have to decide whether I keep her long term as I’m slimming down the fleet.

Balance of probability is I’ll be keeping her.

If the 3.0 is a manual and in great condition, in my opinion it is well worth the money.
I am in no way affiliated with the seller but it’s a one owner, low ish miles Dakar.

I remember a low mileage Dakar 3.0l on here a while ago, was on Ebay, someone went to see it and it was a real dog, the same car popped up a few weeks later at a dealers for double the money that it sold for with a flash over respray, it could well be the above car

Yep, definitely looks familiar. 3.0 Dakars are rare cars so good chance.

If the guys on this site have seen the car before, and it’s been turned round and the price doubled, deffo beware, they know their onions.
Most of us look daily so there’s a wealth of knowledge on here. Just look at it really hard and don’t be afraid to take a trolley jack with you.
I do and most sellers are OK with that. I seem to remember a one owner Dakar that was a female owner in Devon,(I think) somewhere costal and it was really rusty, it could be the same car. The only way to tell is to go and look I guess.
Good luck with your search.
TBH the Jap imports are some of the cleanest I have seen, mostly auto though.

Of course no issue if the work has been done properly. And a buyer is happy to pay the price.

But for a rare colour on a desirable model with low mileage and a modest enough price tag - something doesn't seem right.

It sold for just over 4k and was a real pig, it only took a couple of weeks to get it up for sale, no way can the work have been done correctly in such a short time, that probably why its still up for sale, I would have happily paid 4k for it as I could have put it right at virtually no cost, but it would cost thousands if I where not in the job that I'm in

For the premium this colour seems to attract its not far off buying a different colour and painting it Dakar.

That way it at least won’t be faded or chipped etc..

Yes, it's the car from Cornwall. It was for sale in Falmouth and I intended to go and have a look at it, but as I work away it was sold before I could arrange to view it.
It's had 2 owners, and 60k miles

I agree with Sean,
Just read the above, I suggest you do too.
Unless someone has done a restoration on it, it looks bad.
Especially as the MOT tester has repeatedly stated that the “underside has been under sealed “
My buddy owns an MOT testing garage and if they can’t see the issue, ie the rust they don’t necessarily fail it. Hence the tester is stressing the point of the underseal. They don’t poke sharp tools into the underside of people’s cars. The tester seems like he is between a rock and a hard place. His hands are somewhat tied.
That said, the garage who are selling it may have restored it, replaced the trailing arms, bushes etc. We do it and it’s a lot of work, but it is very unusual for a dealer to do so.
I’m so tempted to go and look at it.
A bit like the 33k Arctic ZMR that sold for £11k ish on eBay. That car was originally left hand drive, had had the engine bay painted body colour and had been in a police compound!!! Alarm bells or what? I feel worried for the new owner.

I'd do the opposite pal, buy a Dakar and paint it a decent colour ;)
