I recently bought a set of alloy pedals for my car as an upgrade for the interior. When I came to fitting them the brake pedal was the easiest of the three. The throttle pedal caused a couple of problems because the angle the original one is mounted at meant you could not access the rear of the original one to fit the screws and nuts supplied. So I used some self tapping screws, which having started the "thread" with them I then shortened before fitting with a dab of super glue on the thread to secure.
The footrest, well that was another story altogether. It came supplied with 4 large self tapping screws to fasten it to the "carpet footrest". Problem is that the carpet footrest is not perpendicular to the seat, so to use the footrest as fastened to the carpet, means you have to keep tension in your leg rather than relax it, this caused me some considerable pain.
So I acquired a piece of aluminium angle of 2"x 3" and on the wide side marked and cut it to the shape of the alloy footrest using the narrower side to fix to the carpet. I fixed a piece of ply to the narrow side to take up space between angle and carpet. Tried a "dry" fit with just 2 screws first then applied double sided carpet tape to both sides of angle before fitting
Finally fitted alloy pedal to the angle. Then road tested.007.jpg

The footrest is a great mod, it makes it a tad wider which is much needed, thank you for sharing....
Did you just self tap screw it straight through the carpet and into the metal floor pan?

You would need very long screws to reach the metal in either direction. Behind the carpet footrest is just a large void.

Really? I didn't know that....so it's just a moulded carpet?

... I acquired a piece of aluminium angle...
Is that a euphemism for pinching?

Great job Tony, looks really good, but you're a pedal missing;)

TBH Dave I'm not sure how I " acquired" it so if anyone wants some I've probably enough for 3 footrests on a first come first served basis.

What ever it costs to post. If you let me know how long your footrest is I will cut to length and polish the outside like mine. By the way the plywood I used is 1/2" thick.

Great thats very kind of you Tony :)

I have only bought the Hamann brake & accelerator pedal covers at the moment.
Im very impressed with your aluminium rest that i might just install that for the time being.
I have emailed the fleabay seller "Japan Lighting" and asked if the Hamann rest would fit the z3 although i have a feeling it wont

To be honest Stephen I had a job to find a set for rhd. The difference being the rest pedal is shaped on the opposite side to fit against the tunnel. I've still got your address so if you would like a piece of the angle I will send you some no worries.

Sometimes eBay sellers say things won't fit because they don't know for sure either way and they're just covering there a..e.

Yes that's probably true.
Pm me when you know cost and your PayPal email (if that's preferred) and I'll send money as a gift.
Thanks Tony, much appreciated

Just looked at Hamann pedal and the "fitting" kit consists of 4 self tapping screws. The dimensions state that it's 31cm long so Ill cut it to that length. Also says that it's RHD models of E46 cars. However the carpet is fairly flexible but firm so I can't see any reason it wouldn't fit ok.

I installed my Hamann Pedal covers today and I am very pleased with them......But,
Jeez that brake pedal was a tough cookie to drill through! I got through 2 x drill bits.

Must admit I had shoulder ache when I finished. But it was the easier of the three. Angle cut and polished, will get it packaged tomorrow night and posted Weds. I will outline my rest pedal on it as you will need this to shape it to the centre tunnel mate.
