Z3 98- Alarm dissable key

Hi, Does anybody know if the alarm disable key the (tubular key for the box under the bonnet) are these generic or coded, if generic where would I get one, at present my alarm sounds as soon as I start the car, I do not have a fob to shut it of, so in the meantime until my fob brick arrives I have pulled the horn relay out, this shuts it up but obviously now no horn either, but rather that than the embarrassing horn going all the time.

From what I can see the alarm output signal just goes through this key switch then the horn relay so it is basically just a switch..

They are coded from the point of view there are a number of variations - i.e.the inner barrel has a key at different positions.
Your local dealer may have info in the system as to the key reference. In the unlikely event you have original paperwork then number is on that but they may not be an available part now.

i thought that might be the case, I will replace it with a standard one used for fire alarms, thanks
