Anyone one know where to source one of the above as in the pic. Mine is looking a bit worn
 
Brilliant and thanks. Just need to make sure it is the right one. I say that cos it looks a bit circular and from memory mine looks a bit more oval. Will look tomorrow. Thanks again.
 
Yeah they are slightly oval, and they make reference to that it in the advert too. I think the angle it's taken at makes it look round.
This will fit all BMW gear knobs with an existing badge of the same shape (oval).

I have ordered the new cap and removed the old one. When you put on the lights there are three circular small lights in the top of the gear stick which are covered by a white piece of 'card' type material. This dims the lights. Any views on removing the 'card' to make the lights brighter. Thanks.
 
The white "card type material" acts as a diffuser for the LEDs John, without it the three LEDs will be more intense but will not evenly illuminate the cap.

i keep feeding him lines but he's not biting!! I know he's out there watching and I'm sure I see glimpses of his comments coming through HT!! HA!

He is no longer a member here so out of courtesy to his request to be deleted, you shouldn't really be talking about him here. Derailing technical posts is annoying to people who don't have the slightest idea who he is, or likely care who he is.

If people want to interact with Mark, get a Facebook account and you can find any number of groups on there he posts up the same repetitive comments about hairdresser cars and random posts of "ha"..

Back to the gear stick cap and the three LED lights. Cap has arrived and is fine although whereas the old one just slotted in, this one has a sticky black bac and the cap will be a permanent fix. That is not a problem except that the three lights wont shine through and illuminate the cap. Again not a problem. Just want to make sure that if the three LED lights are permanently covered there wont be a problem re overheating etc. Cant see it but just wanted peoples views. Thanks.
 
You can lift the leather gaitor and you should be able to find the connector for the wiring. I think there is about 6 inches of cable out the bottom of the knob, so it's not difficult to locate.
 
I would just disconnect them John, as @GazHyde says they are just plugged in underneath the gearstick gaitor.
