Yes tricky to diagnose as it’s a bit illogical! However it does look like the threaded rods are in the wrong rails. One of the past owners has had the seat out to do some work , probably changed the bushes for OEM ones and reassembled them incorrectly.Had the same issue with my Z3. As i was the only driver except MOT time didn't bother me. New owner of seats also tried to rectify not sure if ever fixed
Spacers arrived after lunch today , installed in the blocks threaded rods fitted and seats re fitted into car and the switch moves the seat in the correct direction! Thanks for everybody’s assistance . PaulThe spacers may need sanding down so that they fit correctly. I have seen post where they have used a hammer to get them in!
For interests sake I followed the service bulletin and set the seat carrier to the measurement distance they say and it worked out very well.There are loads of posts on here and You Tube about how to replace the bushings. Here is the BMW instructions and a couple of video links
