Hi all,

Joined the forum tonight. As the title describes.. I have a 2001, 2.2L widebody Z3 which I am in the progress of restoring.

Hopefully, if all goes to plan, it will be my lifelong buddy and share a journey with me.

I make no apologies.. I'm not a purist, this is my car, I want the look and feel in the cockpit that I want, which may differ from BMWs initial ideas (I despise orange LEDs despite having had many other BMWs which still have an orange dash 🤣🤣).

So first picture of many... this is my nemesis which currently doesn't run (but turns over, no fire)... time will tell if we become best friends or not... I genuinely hope we will.

I look forward to virtually meeting those of you interested in my progress,

Best regards

Steve
looking forward to the progress good luck

It won't be the fuel filter. It's a pump or power supply issue. Power the drivers seat fully forward or much better still, unbolt it. The pump is accessed via a circular steel panel on the rear bulkhead. The carpet is in the way but feel around and you'll detect the circular 'cut out' that you need to follow with a Stanley blade. Remove the steel plate and you'll see the pump housing with a connector plug, fuel hoses and a plastic circular locking ring.

Firstly - give the pump a clout. Clout the plastic locking ring - this might just bring it back to life. If not, disconnect the connector plug and power up the two pump connector pins with a couple of wires and a battery. There are four wires in the plug, the thinner wires are for the sender, the fatter ones for the pump. If you hear the pump buzzing, it works, it you can't, it doesn't. Get the jumper wires wrong and the pump will blow air into the tank but you won't damage it.

Check the fuel pump fuse as well as if it's blown the pump will have seized.
