Get some octane booster to add to the fuel should help make it burn better till you run down a bit

I'd fill the tank with fresh fuel, get it nicely warmed up and take it for an Italian Tune first. Being sat for extended periods of time often doesn't help.

Evening all, may I join this thread with an identical problem?
Two years ago I had a serious accident and damaged my back which meant that my beloved Z sat for 12 months without turning a wheel since I was the only one who could get in it!
Since then it still starts instantly but ask it to run seriously and the EML alarm comes on and the power level is minimal. The petrol is now new and I have put 2 bottles of Cataclean through it with no success plus had the fuel filter replaced.
The second time I took it out some months ago it suddenly ran perfectly half way through the trip but has shown no signs of doing so since.
Your thoughts on wether it is repairable would be much appreciated. Mick.

Evening all, thanks for your suggestions, I’ve been to the garage and they say that it is the exhaust camshaft sensor which is not happy, the good news is that they say it is doable for an affordable amount!
It is booked in for Friday, I’ll let you know how we get on. Mick.

Unfortunately Sods law applied last Friday, the receptionist only booked my car in for a MOT!,, which it passed as usual, it goes in on Wednesday to have the sensor replaced. Mick.

I have now eventually got my Z back home, the good news is they have not charged me for the time they have spent poring over it and trying to diagnose the problem, the bad news is they cannot categorically say what the problem is, the exhaust camshaft sensor is now showing clear but the one associated with the throttle mechanism is showing faulty and to get at it means dismantling the inlet manifold, a job they consider beyond their capabilities and therefore v expensive should it go to a main dealer.
So what do I do?
Is it possible someone might like a poorly Z or is it terminal?
I look forward to seeing your thoughts.
Thanks. Mick.
