A shame he's so far away from me! Hopefully I can get some pointers off him to pass on to my mechanic.
Hopefully you will get it sorted, makes you think the seller knew the score, if the car was coming through our shop you would be looking at £500 minimum and probably some more on top.
More than likely. At the price I was confident I'd get my money back even if I broke it for spares. I'll see what get said Wednesday but I really would like to keep it on the road.
Shame you didn't post last week, could have removed the crossmember from the 2.0, I just got rid of the shell. Breaking a new one if you're not sorted.
Really, what a shame! I only got it Friday and didn't get time to look underneath till Sunday. That could be a good option though. I'll drop you a PM.
OK, had it up on ramp and the rear cross member has come away from the chassis. Also the diff hanger is snapped. My mechanic is next door to an engineering firm and knows them quite well. They've said they'll be able to sort it for me following some of the guides on youtube where they cut a well in the boot and weld it up. Also reinforcing at the same time with extra metal lengths. Just need to save up now, probably a job for winter.
