BMW Z3 ROADSTER 2.2 2001 10 Months MOT Topaz Blue with Hardtop.

92,000 MILES £ 2995-00 ovno

This is a 3 owner car the last one for 15 years. If you’re on this page the chances are you already know a bit about z3s and the fact that Z3s are now real classic roadsters. When we bought our Z3 it had done 14,800 miles.

We purchased this one from Chesterfield BMW when it was 2years old and have had it ever since. It’s had all the BMW recalls done on the rear suspension mounts etc. Servicing and repairs by part BMW and part local trusted garage, receipts kept for all work done and parts replaced over time, brakes and suspension, alarm system, batteries tyres etc etc.

Engine is the 2.2 chain drive VANOS which has been ultrareliable and untouched except for regular maintenance. The best engine size for the car. Wide body model with standard 16” wheels. The bodywork is not perfect there are signs of bubbling on the sills and on the bottom of one rear wing and obvious age related stone chips on the bonnet etc. 15 years of use mainly on flat Lincolnshire roads. It has been to France on holidays a few times, brilliant for touring, but useless at carrying crates of wine.

Tool kit and jack are complete, first aid kit is still in the original wrapper. Spare wheel spacesaver type used once. That’s when you realise a standard wheel won’t fit into the boot. 2 remote key fobs and keys, all the remotes and locks work fine.

It has the original dark blue convertible roof and rear window, which has been regularly reproofed and has always been 100% waterproof.

All the electrics work, fully adjustable seats, heated leather seats, roof open and close. Heated rear screen works on the hardtop. Business BMW radio cassette works, but does not have working CD player.

Hardtop fitted from new and has a cover for its storage when not in use. It has always had the hardtop fitted over winter, all the time we have had the car. Chrome grill and gills and M trim steering wheel to the interior. Non smoking drivers.

Traction control and ABS working fine. Wind deflector and tonneau cover included. New outdoor cover this year. ( the new car now goes in the garage)

ALL ORIGINAL and unmodified except for Osram halogen headlamp bulbs. We have the original handbooks, specification sheet and BMW Z3 brochure which will go with the car.

Recent 4 new tyres, less than 2K miles. Battery 18months old.

No track day or competition use, and only one accident repair, a BMW garage mechanic reversed into the door while it was in the dealers for work to the brakes, they resprayed part of the car at their cost. We did continue to use the same garage, it could have happened to anyone, and the next nearest dealer was in the same motor group anyway.

The Z3 has been on private plates for most of its life and I recently changed it back to its original registration Y702AOG. See photos.

As they always say genuine reason for sale (but if you saw either of us trying to get in and out you can see why we recently changed to an automatic SUV.)

I have SORNed it over the winter previously and will do again this year if it does not sell. Convertibles always sell better in the Spring.

It has taken me some time to convince the wife that our Z3 should go as it has generally been her car, plus there are no spaces for grandkids. That’s why I looked for an owner’s club site to sell it. The airbag warning light has come on since it was MOTed this will be fixed before the car is sold.

Not a bad price considering the HT, I beg to differ about the 2.2 being the best engine for the car though ;) GLWTS

Interesting the registration plate BEF is local to me, EF was a West Hartlepool registration until 1974. I had two EF registered cars, my first car an Austin A40 reg HEF 627 and my second car a Austin Mini reg CEF 627 C. Wish I had the numbers now, first one would be worth a bob or two.

Paid £250 for BEF in 2004 Wife’s initials it just looks so different now with the original plate after a decade and a half. Have put it on a xc40 T5 FE a 250 BHP 4x4 IPad.

@Ruth wells Blimey this one is a gooden
Defo worth contacting
Have to agree with @BMBabe. With a known history and problems highlighted @Ruth wells you could do a lot worse than giving this car a serious looking at. Replacement sills and respray of the rear wings (both will probably need to be done) should not cost much more than £7-800 so long as you avoid BMW dealers. Nice spec. with sports seats and a hard top, which would cost £800-ish to buy now.

Yeah, you just need to edit the text between the quote tags...
Ok mate, I'll watch for that and do it if that's ok with you?

Looks a nice but for someone, must be hard to sell with all the memories you and your wife have had with the ownership. Hopefully it won’t be long before a sale.
It was a difficult decision , it was a toss up between 2 motors as to which one to keep and which one to sell

Jesus you have chosen to keep that red thing over your stunning Z3 :eek::eek:
I may have to sell both! running out of garage space for the Toyota collection. I assumed putting that “red thing” on this site was contentious to say the least. Selling the wife’s “baby” is one step away from divorce procedings!
