Z3 1.9 Tuning

the rear plastics, i assumed from your comment earlier you were shipping the Z3
 
Hi Zedonist , I already have the complete set up in my car now after buying the pieces which were not in the car as purchased. What I want is another complete setup for my Mercedes. Unfortunately there is not enough room in the boot to buy a set in the UK and ship them with the car. If I was using a container they will put whatever else I want in with the car at no extra cost. Otherwise, I would need to buy the items and find a way to get them shipped separately to my home which is pretty expensive. Hope this makes sense. JIM
 
First part of my making the car more responsive, running on Super Unleaded. Have to say the car sounds better, and feels more responsive on this, and is returning 36 mpg, 2-3 mpg up on normal unleaded for me - I never use supermarket fuel. I've looked at SuperChips, and they seem to be quoting £229 fitted locally, and looking at the graphs on the web, gives 10bhp and additional torque where I want it, so will go and investigate that some point

The Owners Manual for my 1997 1.9L says the engine is rated on 91, but like you, I feel that it reaches its full potential on 92 or 92.
… you can refuel with different
fuel qualities since the engine is
equipped with a knock sensor.
In order to achieve rated values for engine
performance and fuel consumption:
> Super lead-free premium gasoline
(91 AKI).
The minimum fuel quality is:
> Regular lead-free gasoline (87 AKI)
> Because of the engine's design, you
should refuel with this gasoline only
as an exception.

+1 on good fuel, super unleaded a must or when available shell v power, combined with NGK upgrade plugs gives a nice little 4 pot explosion
 
I always found that no matter what make of car I was driving on vacation in Europe it was an improvement to go up a grade in gas product and almost always found the shell was best. Had a little Opel that after 800km still had a quarter tank of fuel, it was over 82 MPG when we converted everything.
 
As much as I dislike Tes#o, I do use their Momentum 99 fuel and on a decent run I average about 37mpg. Shell stuff us good too but not always easy to find.

i put fuel injector / cleaner in mine you get more miles to gallon plus you get engine running smoothhhhhhhhhhhhh
 
TBH fuel is just like any other commodity . . . . you get what you pay for. Supermarket fuel is certainly not the best.
