Z Shed tomorrow re-loaded

This is now how the car sits, I'm very happy with it I don't feel the need to go lower this is how I imagined it would sit. So again thanks to the Zshed and as I managed to buy breakfast this time, all good.

This was at the dump, dropping off the offending bits.

Looks pretty much the same ride height as my 1.9 with M-Sport suspension fitted from the factory. (2 fingers clearance between tyre and arch - I've only little fingers! ). No longer a beer crate then?

Almost banished the beer crate memory, yup diff seems fine my one was very rough when we got it out, so pleased it was changed. I would not want the car any lower it handles really well now and is still pretty comfortable.

Well first encounter with rain, lots of rain, in fact we have a small stream running past the front of our place at the mo. Anyway out for a spin as I have the day off today, this is the first time I have had any real confidence in the cars ability.

After the Zshed fitting @Lee took the Z for a spin, straight roads and roundabouts and the difference was considerable. The car did feel tighter and with the new diff and bushing the gear change was smoother and more responsive. We still have the rear beam bushes and wishbones to fit so a further improvement should happen.

The tram-lining now is minimal and as I plan on new front tyres, Goodyear Eagle ass3 to match the rear, that should be completely eliminated. Before having the suspension done hitting puddles was scary, the car would just pull violently also bumpy roundabouts in the wet would send the car off on an excursion.

So driving today was a pleasure, I found myself taking liberties in the wet that would have ended in tears before. Just approaching the 320 mile mark after the fitting, so I guess/hope the car has settled in and the ride height will stay as is.

Its been about a month now since the Zshed fitted the suspension to my Z, the improvement to the handling was night and day, again cheers guys. The car was very stiff at first and measuring the actual drop after fitting and now, the car sits another 4mm lower, due to I guess the springs settling down.

Must say it looks and handles even better now IMHO, I was concerned about it being to low and not coping with road conditions. That I can say is not an issue so happy with the way it has settled and looking forward to a Zshed visit, to finish the bushes and wishbones.

Talking to @pgunter the last time I was there, he had just upgraded his brakes, this has to be one of the most sensible decisions on a 16 year old car. So had a look on eBay and found a pair of E46 325 brake callipers for £25 so bought them then off to ECP for Brembo 300mm front discs and pads. With discount £77 and as I had re-newed the rear discs and pads up-grading the front makes perfect sense.

So will get the callipers painted before fitting and look out for some braided steel brake line as well.

Think t would be prudent to strip those calipers down first as by the looks they have ben shot blasted 'as is' and likely as not shot dust will have got down past the rubbers. You may well find the pistons and seals are past their best and in need of replacement also. Prior to shot blasting they will have just been an old looking pair of calipers in need of refurb, certainly looking at the exposed pitted piston.

Hi thanks was planning to rebuild them if they needed it. Will know when they arrive should be later this week.
