Visiting the Z shed tm tomorrow for a much needed suspension upgrade. Although it has been great sourcing the parts and having those beautiful boxes delivered I can't wait to get them fitted.

The car has been getting progressively worse in the handling department, so much so it tends to scit across the road after any contact with uneven surfaces. I guess the damping has just got fed up and left it to the reluctant springs. I can't find any info to suggest they have been changed in the 88 odd thousand miles the car has covered

Decided on Bilstien B4,s and Eibach pro springs, it's the future for Z,s. Anyway just loaded up the boot and passenger side with all the bits, looks like an explosion in a Bilstien/Eibach factory.

So a big thanks to @Lee @GazHyde @pgunter and Lee's Dad for making time to do this, Pork Scratchings are on me boys:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:.

Will no doubt get some pics of the install to post later and me looking entirely be-wildered, as all this comes together.

Again thanks really appreciate this, catch you guys tomorrow.

Andy

Cant wait to see what it should handle like, rather than what it does not. I love driving this car and to get it working right will be great, so very happy the guys could do this and fit me in.

I use the Midlands branch myself but always good to have a day at Zed Shed Ltd! Look forward to hearing the results. Mine was booked in last winter to be done but had to cancel due to funds. It will be getting booked in with @t-tony at some point.

Top day Andy, and your Zed is looking awesome now! 10/10! It was superb that you rolled your sleeves up and got stuck in today, always good to have an extra apprentice to bully lend a hand :ymdevil:

A few random pics of the day below... Stuff. Stuff everywhere.

Another set of what we think are 16 year old original shocks...

Both rears would compress fully with little effort, and wouldn't come back out again.

Interestingly we haven't seen this type of label before, so wondering if the fronts were changed at some stage by BMW. They were knackered anyway, so probably not recently if that's the case. Otherwise will assume with the condition they are original and 16 years old. Both showed signs of failure in compression, one had some rebound but the other was incredibly weak. This was the "roundabout side" which tends to take more load generally.

Dropped the diff... Andy had sourced a reconditioned one from Synclare to replace his as it was whining badly, and progressively so.

The initiation ceremony of any new #ZedShed apprentice. The torture of the rear carpet removal... Andy loved his time compressed in to the stupidly tiny area behind the seats. Kept mumbling about his back and mentioning vertebrae, but we kept him on track! :ymdevil:

So, for all that effort. How does she look now...

I'm going to wait for Andy to do the reveal as it's only fair :D

So the rumours are true, Z3,s defiantly do go round corners and don't try to spit you off on roundabouts. Well at least thats my Z now, big thanks to @Lee @GazHyde @pgunter and Lee,s Dad, had a great day with you guys even the traffic on the M25 home didn't stop me smiling.

So what does it look like, well only a rear view at the mo, but just on the journey home the suspension settled a bit more so will get some side pics tomorrow.

This is before the lowering

This is after taken at Lee,s place, the car has dropped a bit more now.
