Hi everyone.

Tonight, much to my neighbours and my annoyance, my Z’s alarm keeps going off. I keep resetting it. I have been out to check my car and it’s seat belts in case they are somehow setting the alarm off but all looks fine.

Do you have any ideas as to why the alarm
Is going off, please?

Not an alarm expert, but could be something as simple as key/fob battery needs changing.

If I remember correctly, if you lock the car using the key in the door lock it doesn't set the alarm, that will give the neighbours some respite until you can check in daylight!

My z3 had water in the boot well under the carpet, water leaked in through a damaged antenna grommet. There is an alarm motion sensor in there. Lift the carpet just in front of the rear light and you will find a well. See if it has water in it. Mine had several inches.

Check the bonnet is shut properly...

Check in the well at the N/S/R Dawn, could well be full of water. Remember your brake light leaking?

Tony.

Thanks for responses everyone: much appreciated.
I was in the boot rummaging around yesterday: it’s dry.
I did notice that I’d knocked the interior light off yesterday when I went to the car this evening so put it back in the correct position. Could this have somehow drained the battery? Do I need to take the car for a spin now to charge the battery?

Yes could be a battery drain.

Tony.

Thanks. I thought it might be. Reminded me of when the alarm went off and ultimately it was the battery which need replacing. How long do you think I need to run the car for Tony?

My boot seemed dry but the water was only in the well under the carpet on the far rear passenger side of the boot. Only after lifting the carpet and trim i the corner is it visible. Yo can also try locking with the key which doesn't turn the alarm on

Cheers @Oddly Godly That’s something for the daylight I think.

Considering you would need lights, wipers, heater and all on, at least half an hour. OR do what Andy suggested and lock it with the key for tonight.

Tony.

I’ll see in a mo: I’m watching Justice League...gripping stuff...car alarm not going off a mo but if it persists, I’ll make a decision then.

What a time for car shenanigans! Zzz!

When I had my problem it started going off at 5am on a Sunday morning. I drove up to Dunstable Downs as I couldn't stop it. I removed 3 fuses involved with the alarm and central locking and it still went of. I then disconnected the battery and it still went off! Only after finding the water and removing it with a towel did it stop. I kept my head down after waking up all my neighbours at 5am on a Sunday =))
