I was looking through my car’s history file and thought it might be interesting to see where it lived in the past. I managed to find a view of it a few owners back parked on their driveway in 2012.
A few weeks ago, as I was driving to the unit where we work on our cars, the Google car pulled out behind me. Now the pictures are live. I got caught a few years ago as I went for a walk one lunchtime. Anyone else been spotted?
It was very easy because my car has a large history file with invoices for services going back to the early 2000’s. Names and addresses are all there, so I just looked them up on Google maps. The key to it is that you can usually see historic street view images going back almost 20 years.
Our area seems to have been covered for the first time in July 2008. Almost 20 years, but not quite. I guess most of the original owners of Z3’s wouldn’t have been spotted.

Yes, the photo-cars first went out in 2008, with Street View being launched the following year. But it's hardly "almost 20 years ago"....? But it's an interesting idea, none the less.
