Is there anything really obvious that would prevent me from making the journey?

Well, I did bid at £13.200.00 but that was it. Went too quickly to £15.400.00 plus buyers premium maybe £800.....and still only a provisional bid.
I think I'm too late for a Z3 m.

They say you have to be in to win ! A shame but if your persistant im sure it will pay off sooner or later ...never say never...

I thought it looked like its had a rough life anyway, especially for that kind of cash!

A growing realisation at the moment, but stick with it you never know what may come up!

I'm still kicking myself I didn't buy one of the couple that were for sale on here for around £5k a few years back. Yes, £5K. Both high milers, but mileage really doesn't make any difference in my mind. Even the low milers you see will still need a lot of work carried out on them at this age anyway.

Makes mine still look cheap

I had my first look and ride in a Z3///M 2 and half years ago in June when I rode in @miller1098's on a trip to the UK in Wales. Was extremely impressed by the power regardless of the driver giving me the impression it was my last day on earth. Then another ride in one on a forum cruise one week later. I promised myself I'd look for one when I came back to the States. I looked for six months and finally came across one with 98K miles in California that was in great condition. Ended up paying $7800 for it March 2 years ago. If you KEEP LOOKING and bide your time, you'll find the one for you. Frankie

I totally agree that you keep looking. My car isn't a M3 but I wasn't really looking for one. Prices in NA were way to high so i broadened the search to the UK and found one I and Trinity really liked. Took me a full year to get it to my drive in Canada but saved myself thousands of $$$ even with shipping. So don't be discouraged your car is out there waiting for you!! JIM

Keep searching, took me over a year to find my old M.

I'd never buy a Z3 without a thorough inspection & test drive, let alone an ///M.
The S54 engine is a wet oil sump and chances are that if it's been tracked at any time there might have been oil starvation in the pistons, the rear diff support welds letting loose, quick and rather unpredictable car to handle but yet still accessible to inexperienced drivers that might have crashed it & repaired, and so much more...

EDIT: that applies to S50 through S54 engines and, generally to all of them, but thanks for pointing it out @Ianmc

I think you will find that's a S50 engine. The S50 doesn't have traction control. I agree a thorough inspection before purchase.
