People need to get a grip with reality
This is ridiculous, I accept there have people who have been wronged and mistreated in the past, but it's getting to a point where the "tail is wagging the dog"!

This comment on the article sums it up for me.

In other words it's about moving out of slavery, not into it!
This sort of thing is a terrible distraction from the serious issues of prejudice, discrimination and cruelty facing black people. There ARE bent cops in both the US and UK who will victimise black people (and females & those with disabilities) and it's them we should be going after without distraction.

Whilst I agree with the remark about Police Officers that fail to meet the required standards I don't believe this to be a soley Police issue, here, the USA or anywhere else. Police Officers come from society, it's this that needs fixing. Just beating the Police is similar to jailing drug dealers and not the main suppliers, easy target that achieves little or nothing. I watched '16 Shots' on Sky Demand, a thought provoking documentary. Was the Officer guilty on all counts, yes but the wider issue is the issue. Over reaction to a reported issue only serves to have a perceived over reaction at the opposite end of the spectrum, as we're currently seeing in Europe and the USA.
I couldn't agree with you more!!!! It's starting to get ridiculous over here now. The Flyers ice hockey organization banned Kate Smith's recording of "God Bless America" and no longer consider her as a 'mascot' to the team because at one obscure time in the past she referred to black people as 'darkies' which was the commonly used term at the time and didn't have any derogatory connotation. It would be like us saying 'black people' now. Just like we are commonly referred to as 'white people'.
I guess if toilet paper turns out to me made from trees in the south that are located on former plantations that had slaves, we'll have to start using something else...........................Frankie
It's not solely a Police issue by any stretch of the imagination. But if you don't have a Police force you can fully trust it's a very bad thing. When the Police are bent it trumps everything else in my view. We have some fantastic Police officers. But we also have too many who are clinging on to a way of thinking that was eradicated in the rest of society in the 1970s, often via their 'little boys clubs'. And sometimes at instuitional level. Don't dare have a disability in the Police. And be careful if you're female too as some male officers really can't cope well with a woman telling them what to do. And that's just how they treat each other.
Same page mate. I have a Hugo Boss wrist watch, I've given it a stern talking to about it's evil past .... not going to set fire to it though as I like it and its history was 25 years or so before I was born.
Again, some valid points. My Sister-in-Law is a Police Officer in the West Midlands Police (not the Serious Crime Squad
), the C-in-C's step father was in the same Force and I have mates across the UK that are serving Police Officers. The Police, to a degree, feel like they can't do right for doing wrong. The Virus (press) distort their actions daily, the fevela in society attack them, daily, and all with some 22,000 Officer less than a decade ago. Many feel that 'circling the wagons' to protect themselves is the only answer at the moment. The overwhelming majority do a great job when all is against them, a tough job.

If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black Britain or Miss Asia, but any colour can be in the Miss UK.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.
There are over 200 openly proclaimed Muslim only schools in England. Yet if there were 'White schools only', that would be racist!
In the Bradford riots and Toxteth riots, you believed that you were standing-up for your race and rights. If we stood-up for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
We fly our flag, we are racists. If we celebrate St George's day we are racists.
You can fly your flag and it’s called diversity. You celebrate your cultures and it’s called multiculturalism.
You rob us, carjack us, and rape our daughters. But, when a white police officer arrests a black gang member or beats up an Asian drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I've often thought of this. We have the NAACP which is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. O can't imagine of there was a NAAWP. And what about the Black Caucus? The Black Press? I could go on and on........Frankie
