What is going wrong with us? I just read this on MSN and I have noticed several similar things in the press lately.

Have the Police not got better things to do than this after,

"Police received a call from a member of the public regarding concern for the welfare of a baby on Tuesday, January 8.

Whoever made that call should be prosecuted for wasting Police time, and the Officer that sanctioned it sacked.

Tony.

Well, this results when you place your entire intimacy on social network...
Sometimes social network are good, when it comes for sharing information or asking help, sometimes don't, when showing facts against law or moral...the line is very thin between.
It's each one call and taking the risks!

Madness, I attended a simple car fire on Sunday evening and 4 police cars turned up with at least 7 officer's, thought I was seeing things, it must have been half of their resources, can't understand how they deploy, when a real crime happens (burglary assaults etc) your lucky if you get 1:banghead: loosing faith in the old bill.

The problem is with who reported it. The police are duty bound to investigate where there is a safeguarding issue. Imagine the outcry if there was a real issue and the child had come to be harmed. Some kids suffer horrendous cruelty which comes to light only from a snippet of information. Just doing their job here.
Agree that at other times they over react though.

I read that the decision was made without seeing what was put on FB at all, just relying on the phone call. That is wrong surely.

Tony.

Like I said, the idiot who reported it should be prosecuted for wasting police time, just doing their job (badly).

So much of what I dislike about the modern world there.
  1. I hate social media. Why do people want to publish a blow by blow account of breaking wind to the whole world?
  2. Why do people want to read about others breaking wind?
  3. The Police and other authorities have a duty of care to investigate that borders on ridiculous
  4. That same duty of care doesn’t seem to apply to the poor b*gger who’s life is tainted/ruined by over zealous and malicious acts
  5. There is no comeback for the idiots who make these false and ill thought through allegations
  6. There are plenty of thick coppers out there. And for that matter nasty ones who rejoice in hurting people physically and mentally. In this instance it may well have been PCSOs though
  7. The Police seem incapable of apologising. They are always right even when they are wrong. Apart from arrogance any sort of apology would probably encourage someone suing for damages

Yep, that pretty much sums it up Rob. The main reason I won't have any truck with Facebook. It's poison.
