WOW!

If i was going for a standard 3.0 then i would go for the Z3 if it is to be a week end and mid week toy. If you are going to do long runs or use it daily then i would go for the Z4. Depending on the price you want to pay you may even be able to pick up an SI. I have seen SI's going for around the 6 to 7k mark with around 60k mileage
That's good advice. I'm lucky to be in the fortunate position of having Z3s so I can have one as a general toy and a Z4 for regular use and to effectively scratch an itch. I'd be more than happy with a standard 3.0 as it is plenty quick enough and just that little bit more modern. I have a 40 mile daily commute so the newer technology would be welcome.

Jim have you tried a run in full sports mode with the traction turned. Which will then enable more driver than car control

Yes Bill more in sports than not, because I don't like the feel of the steering when not using Sport, and traction control I only use in the wet, Its not the fact that it is not quick as it goes like stink, it sounds fantastic and goes around the bendy bits like s*** to a shovel, but I just don't get the buzz of driving the car rapid as I did with the 3, When driving the 3 like we used to (nudge nudge wink wink) you were always on the edge and had to plan and drive the car, The 4 just seems to do what you want, now some people would see this as a benefit! but not me I enjoyed going through the bends and being on the limit, it felt more rewarding getting it right knowing it was down to my driving that the car was performing because of my input, and yes getting it wrong now and again was rewarding as well as this was a leaning curve on how the car handled, now I know the 4 will do what I want with no dramas and you have to really get it wrong to be on the limit. I have done the EVO in the 4 flat out, got to silly speeds that I had never achieved in the 3 hammered her around the bendy bits a lot more than I would have done with the 3, at the end of the run and parked up where we normally do, it felt like I had just completed a Sunday run out. Normally with the 3 the adrenalin is going the hands are slightly shaking and you felt like you accomplished something and you had to pee on your brakes LOL.
