I am not a boy racer by any means............... I am now 44 but was good to night to see my 17 yr old Z3 keeping up with an Astra VXR..... I think he must have thought loud, low and slow...... He got a surprise haha......:rally:

wish I was 44:(

Good for you @Axelf :p
Always young at heart ........:)
It's the best way to be ;)

I don't know what kind of VXR it was but I've learned to stay well away from them. There is Astra VXR here that looks standard apart from lower height and sooty black rich running fumes from the exhaust. Otherwise standard and quite grubby so I expected it's not quite standard engine wise and the guy is more about go than show.
It's sounded like a giant whoopee cushion but flew past me. It appeared to be breaking traction in third on a dry road to boot!

44, those were the days =))

My son has not long sold his VXR, it was tuned to the hilt had a custom exhaust, lowered with huuuuge wheels and banged and popped every time you lifted off the throttle it was quite a handful, eye watering quick off the mark but not funny in the wet.
He's getting married in Sept so it had to go, drives a Saab now .... poor lad and he's not happy about it..=))=))=))

Lad over the road from me had aa Astra VXR that used to break traction in 3rd, Who wants to do that at that speed though?

He's got himself a Focus ST now I think it puts out 350ish BHP and goes like stink. I drove it a week or so ago and although ok to drive once you put your foot down in 3rd it's bloody violent and just heads for the gutter.

RWD all day for me, At least it's more controllable and much more fun.
Much prefer a spirited blast down the lanes now in my Zed instead of hanging on for your life with some of the machines available now.

Yes you are right , I have had a number of Very fast cars, the fastest being a 560bhp M5:racecar:.. Far to fast for the roads.... In a blink of an eye I was over 100 easy... Just could not live with it so it had to go... This Z3 is just amazing, yes it's old and I need to tinker about with it , but I just love that about a car like this.. But it's good to know that 17yr old car is just as much if not more fun in my eyes as the bigger beasts out there

Absolutely spot on dude, especially the tinkering.

You seem to doing quite a bit of that to your's.
Hope to see it at an event sometime this summer..

Hopefully fingers crossed , I am trying to get a run out organised for tomorrow up here but not very many takers...

Wish I had just one other around here but no such luck! Closest is about 100 mi away and they never bothered to get in touch. Very typical of BMW owners over here! But I noticed one for sale in an ad in Winnipeg so now know there are at least two others around somewhere! JIM
