We have created a new vaccine, its been a bit of a rush job, not sure about its long term effects on health over say 1 year or even 6 months but would like to inject you with it anyway, all ok?

I’m not so keen at present and would like to read the scientific papers behind it first for reassurances before I would take it. I can imagine they will try to put pressure on front line staff to take up the vaccine.

At one trust where I did a stint they emailed staff stating that if they did not have the flu jab and went off sick they would face disciplinary action which soon got a thumbs down from unions but did encourage staff to take up the flu jab.

I've had the Flu jab every year for the past 12. It's a "new" concoction each year as the Flu mutates so I really can't see why I wouldn't have the Covid 19 one.

Tony.

ps. Has the NHS forgotten about supplying people nursing Covid patients with REAL PPE? Not just a thin plastic apron and a mask you would use to go shopping.

There's no rush for me at the moment,
Since the vaccine doesn't stop you getting Covid only mitigates the symptoms, and wouldn't stop you passing it on - from what I've read.
If this is the case how can they claim 90% success rate - unless if in the trials have they actively tried to infect the subjects ?
They aren't even sure how long the anti bodies created, and so immunity will last.

So far in the UK we have had 1.34 mill. cases approx. Which is a lot less than 10%

Unless we can effectively convince 70 - 80 % of the world population, and administer it it will be pretty pointless, as the virus will still be in circulation.

Of course I could be way off the mark, the vaccine could be a total success , we'll just have to play the waiting game.

I‘d have it tomorrow if it was available. Still wouldn’t go out to the pub or parties or congregate until they say it’s relatively safe. Trouble as I see it the authorities led all the youngsters to believe that most would fight it off easily, some wouldn’t have any symptoms. So now you’ve got all the older people frightened to death of going out and possibly contracting it with the high likelihood of not being able to fight it off. Most other countries have the exact same problems with the younger generation. All anyone has been asked to do is keep away from each other until it’s sorted but selfishness seems the order of the day. Might just as well tell all vulnerable people to stay home as much as possible and let the rest go about their business as usual. Might get the economy going again which will in the end be the deciding factor. So I say if your offered the vac you should take it, the longer you put it off the longer everyone else who’ve taken it will have to deal with this very infectious diseas. Think back to the fifties when everyone was frightened of polio vaccine, where’s polio now.
You can’t always have your cake and eat it. Hooping cough started doing its rounds again not that long ago, WHY!!!! because people refused to get their children vaccinated, not Rocket Science is it.

We have a thread for Coronavirus related stuff. I'll keep this thread open for as long as it stays related to a poll, otherwise it's locked. I can see it's already heading that way so start the timer...

I will have it as soon as it is available but it won't make much difference to the way I behave. I have basically carried on a normally as possible since this started. I wear a mask in the appropriate places, keep my distance and use the hand sanitiser when entering and leaving shops.

Hey, you have your fair share and some, but, not the exclusivity by any means.

Tony.

Developed in 10 months where most drugs take 10yrs. I'll take my chances that the red wine will keep me safe. ;)

I’m not really sure if I’d have it or not :)
I have the flu jab every year , only had the flu once and ended up in hospital, I never want the flu again Ill just wait and see what I think at the time :)
