I was unable to unlock drivers door today, just nothing happened. Put key into boot lock and unlocked, then put key back into drivers door and it unlocked. Any ideas what was done or is wrong. The passenger door has to be locked/unlocked on its own.

Could be a number of things but at this age taking a look inside and giving it a good clean may help? You could do your window runners whilst you're in there.
 
Does your interior light work and your petrol filler flap lock as mine didn't i had this problem and to fix it i changed the hasp on the drivers side and now it locks remotely. Light works and the flap locks.

It has i bet. It's not a key lock. Its a button behind the flap which locks when the car iis locked. Can you open the flap with the car locked?
 
i think i have similar issues, the passenger door will lock but wont unlock, it tries but doesnt quite do it, the drivers side is better but again sometimes dont, though this is more the door will unlock but the handle wont open it, if i unlock from the boot all is fine.
but just recently the handle issue is getting worse, yesterday i had to go around to the passenger side and reach across to pull the inside catch.
 
Whilst I know the photos are not of a Z3 its just to give an idea.

yep, it doesnt come on until i open the door i think, always been like that.
this gives me the excuse to go over the shop to get some wine, i will go and see, first if the flap is locked then i will unlock the door and see when the light comes on.

i will remove my door cards at the weekend and let you know what i find.
 
the passenger side didnt lock or unlock, i squirted some wd40 into the lock and it now locks but dont unlock, though it does try.
 
just got wine:) checked car - no locking flap and no where to mount one, i have a locking cap though. light comes on when i open door, i recon the chap who sold you your zed was lying and infact you have been driving around in something else thinking it was a zed=)) or more lickely the facelift had a locking flap
 
You might be right may be the face lift model only has the petrol flap lock as i have no experience of the prefaced model. Thinking about it i don't have a nearside door lock.
 
I have put a little 3 in one oil on key and in barrel but the action is very sluggish/delayed which it wasn't before battery went flat ?
My inside light works ok, but there is no lock on the filler flap only inside which is operated with a key.
At the moment drivers door works on its own but sometimes with the boot.If I lock the boot and the drivers door is un locked it will also lock.If I push the internal button down on passenger door it will lock drivers door, but if I lock the passenger door with a key it does not lock the drivers door. It all seems very strange to me and not logical.
