We now have a spare engine kicking about the shed. It’s a fully working M54 2.2. We threw some ideas around with what to do with it.

We wondered if people would be interested in coming down to the shed for some workshop days and learn how to do Vanos rebuilds and other tasks on the engine. Should only be a couple of hours per rebuild.

Is there enough interest to make it worth keeping the engine ?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Would love to, it might give me the confidence to do that go my own engine.

Then I’d just need training on not dropping bits down into the engine, not rounding bolt heads and threading things, not breaking every plastic clip in sight, putting things back without having parts leftover and generally learning patience and delicate touch for engine work =))

It’s just a better way to give people the confidence and play in safety.

Great idea, a little too far for me though, this engine drank a bit of oil did it not? how about about stripping the bottom end down to see the state of the piston rings?

Thought did cross my mind. I think it was the short journeys causing the high oil consumption. Not even a 2 mile drive a day.

What a nice idea mate. Considering your a southern Jessy I'll give you :scorecard: for thoughtfulness. I'll see if I can get a pass out to come down for the day if you go ahead with the idea.

Well there we go - first classroom project will be to sort that out and whack the 6 pot in for you ;)

I'd be up for this. If you fancy a car to start from the beginning I have a kit in the boot ready to go ;)

Good to see lots of interest, we also have an LSD Diff to play with.

We are based just on the M3 outside basingstoke.
