Woodwork corner

You could try modifying this coal bunker lid which I've been making today?

Painting day tomorrow.

Tony.

When I'm not enjoying the Zed, my longstanding hobby is building acoustic guitars, I've made over a hundred now, some are in the hands of some 'legendary' players. I just love the challenge of reading the grain and transforming a plank or two of rough wood into a musical instrument.

Here's a couple of my builds.

The inlay in the top took over a week and has over a thousand pieces.

But if you want to see the work of a true artist, then my friend Howard Klepper in the USA made a couple of guitars called 'Dovetail Madness', all of the pieces were dovetailed together by hand, the guy is a pure genius.

Stunning work

No mate we have oil fired central heating but we have to keep some logs and coal "just in case" ;)

Tony.

ps. It's been there for about 30 years.

30 years!

And you’ve just made the lid!

And I thought I put off jobs for ages =))

This is the 2nd lid I've made for a bunker which was second hand when we got it in the early 80's mate. I like things to last. =))

Found this nice video of some serious woodworking. Done with century old technology.
Fascinating.

I've just sawn and planed 1/8" off a fence panel to make it fit. This woodwork lark is easy-peesy. I think I'll try making some guitars now - can't be that hard:ymdevil::D

Only jesting - the guitars are the most skillful thing I've seen made by any forum member - and I don't just mean this forum.

Very nice skillful work do you make to order ? or just make and sell ? Geoff

Thanks for all your kind comments on the guitars.

I mainly build on commission, current waiting list is about 3years! I do also build a couple a year as a standing order with a guitar shop in Seville, but these are also pre-ordered by their customers. The Birds Eye maple guitar in my post above went to Spain for about double the price that I paid for my Zed!
