So... I quit my job and decided on a complete career change. Now I'm on a train going to Portsmouth for my first day of University (Round 2), to study a Masters in Quantity Surveying.

I tip my hat off to you David! What we're you doing before? I so wished I'd retrained into something else but it's a bit late for me now. Hope it all goes well for you.

Thanks Dave,

I was a massively underpaid line manager at an SEN college in Brighton. There was no opportunity for progression, so time to jump ship!

Good luck David, ..... Audentes Fortuna Iuvat..............

Good luck David, it's a worthy job as a 'bean counters' as the QS is affectionately known as. I hope it all works out well for you. And the sums add up too. =))

I'm sure you'll enjoy it David, a change is as good as a rest!
I originally qualified in Design, leaving the University of Bristol clutching my 'bit of paper' and entered the world of work. After about 15 years in my mid thirties I felt restless and did a Degree in Management in my spare time at the University of Nottingham. This opened up other possibilities and at the ripe old age of forty I went off to the University of Sheffield and did my Masters Degree. However, at the age of fifty I decided I'd had enough and being a keen cyclist I turned my back on everything I'd been doing and got a job in the bike trade. My hobby became my work !
Hope all goes well as you embark on this new career path. I certainly felt refreshed by having new challenges during my working life.

Good luck mate.

Tony.

Good luck with your chosen career move I'm sure it will pay dividends in the future.

It takes a lot of courage to go through with a complete career change, good luck David!

Good luck David. You've still got 30 plus years in front of you so you can change your career a few more times if you find QS isn't for you. Needs and priorities change as you go through your life and it's not all about money. Do something you enjoy doing and make job satisfaction the first priority. You're never too old to learn or develop your skills. I'm 60 now and about to start learning another engineering discipline.

It's never too late @Grumps - dual career!:)
