I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with their Z3 but I noticed the other day the wipers have been hitting on the bonnet for quite sometime and has worn a bit of paint off the rear edge of the bonnet and the wiper arms have also taken a bit of damage.

So today I decided to try and take the wipe arms off to investigate but it seems that the things have welded themselves to the spindles so I have bought a special tool which was supposed to remove the things but I'm still not having any luck so will try again weekend.

Sorry I've not been about but I also have been playing with my new BMW cabriolet which I just bought as a bit of a project With a non working roof which I won for only £730 with a long mot and it's got a full history and has done 64000 and is absolutely rust free and in fantastic condition.
I managed to get the roof working again by just reconnecting the motors and with a bit of tinkering it's now working again so I've given it a quick service and I'm garaging it over winter and will give it to my father next summer once.

Nice one Vince.

If my boy gave me a car I'd think he was looking for an alibi for something or other

The problem is im useless at selling cars but good at buying them lol.
But really my drive looks like a Bmw dealership circa 1997 and my father likes an old BMW and now has a garage He also only lives around the corner and I'm sure I can use it if I really need another car lol.

The red one is a mint low mileage 1.9 Ti which is my winter car so really it's like owning a coupe roadster on the cheap lol

I had your issue with the wipers because my mate bent the arm trying to replace my wipers :nailbiting:

Hi sorry I should of said.. This is the bit of kit I bought, I might have to adjust it slightly with an angle grinder as it doesn't quite fit under the wiper arm.

Hi Tony can you just replace the bushes or did you have to replace the complete unit.

I never did anything with it to be honest Vince, it was on my to-do list. I would speak to Andy (@spurs fan in a coupe ) and Adrian (@Synclare ) to see if either of them has any good used ones.

I finally got to sort out the wiper issue and bought a secondhand wiper linkage and motor off a low mileage 2002 model and installed that and now the wiper arms are working as they should.
While it was apart I cleaned out the scuttle drains etc and it looked like a peat bog in there.
If anyone has to do a wiper motor linkage swap on a RHD I suggest undoing the three bolts that position the motor to the linkage first as its the only way to get it out (and put the new one in) as there's not much room in the scuttle panel.
While I was at it I also bought a few new clips to be on the safe side when reinstalling the plastic panel and I also bought a new plastic scuttle panel guard although obviously I didn't need it but at £1.99 with free delivery it seemed too cheap to miss out on and a trip down the the local pound land for a can of primer and two cans of Matt Black paint had the wiper arms as good as new again.

Now the drivers window has decided to pack up on the compact and it needs a new mechanism and plastic clips so I've drilled the old unit off and I'm waiting for the new one to arrive so at least it means I've got to use the zed now :)
