Had the need to use the windscreen washer on the weekend, due to all the gravel roads being traveled. All it could give was a dribble. A little frustrating considering it had been fixed less than a year ago.

So today, out came the tank:
- 2 x 10 mm nuts
- 1 x electrical connection to the pump
- removed hose from the pump outlet.

Emptied the tank, removed the pump and pulled out the rubber grommet from the tank that the pump goes into. On the other end of the grommet is a filter (well and truly hidden very well). It was blocked up with slime. Same as last time.

Hosed out the tank, cleaned the filter, assembled and tested. Worked like a dream. All of about 10 minutes work.

Had done the exact same work less than a year ago and filled the tank with water and the correct amount of Bars-Bugs (windscreen washer detergent). Still the slime came back. This time I also added a couple of caps of bleach. Lets see if that can kill the slime (or tank poltergeist).;)

Nice work i've just replaced both the jets as mine reduced to a dribble passenger side cleaning was to no avail and had already cleaned the tank like yourself as you say they get a little slimy.

Good job Murray!
My cousin & wife are coming to us today & staying for a day or so, they are from Christchurch. We've been over a couple of times to NZ & love it. Have toured around South Island to the usual spots - had only a couple of days in North Island to visit his brother & family. Seriously thinking of coming over again, but I hate flying!

They say that Milton baby bottle cleaner is good cor washer titles too. Mis the bugs who h caus5 the slime to appear.

Tony.

Just been for a cruise as bedding the brakes in, I needed to washers as was driving into the sun and all I got was a dribble, thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try right now.

Anyone know where I can buy a new rubber grommet for the bottom of my bmw z3 screen washer tank, any advice would be appreciated
