Had the need to use the windscreen washer on the weekend, due to all the gravel roads being traveled. All it could give was a dribble. A little frustrating considering it had been fixed less than a year ago.
So today, out came the tank:
- 2 x 10 mm nuts
- 1 x electrical connection to the pump
- removed hose from the pump outlet.
Emptied the tank, removed the pump and pulled out the rubber grommet from the tank that the pump goes into. On the other end of the grommet is a filter (well and truly hidden very well). It was blocked up with slime. Same as last time.
Hosed out the tank, cleaned the filter, assembled and tested. Worked like a dream. All of about 10 minutes work.
Had done the exact same work less than a year ago and filled the tank with water and the correct amount of Bars-Bugs (windscreen washer detergent). Still the slime came back. This time I also added a couple of caps of bleach. Lets see if that can kill the slime (or tank poltergeist).
