wind deflector

Here's another option, its perspex but gives you a bit more freedom as it slides out so when it rains you don't have to get out of the car to close the roof, (thats if is manual of course) also gives access to the storage box and there is no unsightly straps.

I made it Andy and I also made the clips that hold it in place, I can't take credit for the design as I copied it off @littlefeller, I have some better pics somewhere, I'll see if i can find them.

Good choice Andy there are many members using them so must work well. You can buy a new zip in window fairly cheap from a German co on eBay UK to solve your discoloured window
hi, i have seen these window that zip in and out but not sure if its as straight forward as it sounds.
will there be any info on this on the site? sorry not sure how to find things at the moment, still felling my way around
thanks for any help

You can see it a bit better here, you will also see that it has been bent to follow the contours of the hoopd

that would be great if you have more pictures, looks fantastic and doesn't spoil the look

I haven't personally installed the Zip in window but many members have. Best done with two people and as long as you follow the directions shouldn't be difficult! I bought one for @ BMBabe for her birthday this year, perhaps she can comment or @ Mnbrennan can add his opinion! JIM

I have both mesh and perspex deflectors and there is little to choose between them in effectiveness but the perspex one does make it difficult to get access to the area behind the seats with the hood up. As for the rear window it is quite a simple job. I replaced mine a few years ago with an OEM replacement but there are several on e bay. Instructions here:

Thanks Zorg Guru, looks easy enough. another job to put on the list.
The information and help on this site is fantastic, a big thank you to each and every one of you for you help and advice.
Once I start do these projects I will but progress photos on here

Thank you @ mwpe I couldn't find that link for Andy. Now he can decide if he wants to give it a try or not. JIM

just read through the window link, i had the same issue with the kinking bead at the edge of the window, this causes leaks, i have seem another screen on ebay that has a fabric bead, now thinking would this be better, i plan on changing mine too as im getting annoyed with the leaks.

Jason are you thinking of making any custom made perspex wind deflectors in your mad mods?
For us that don't have roll bars of the standard type.
Tracy.

now funny you should mention that, earlier this year i went along to the classic car show with rob with rose, he has a non hoop wind deflector. We parked up side by side along with a couple of other Zeds, the amount of people who came over and questioned where he had brought his deflector from, this started the old cogs going around in my head. i didnt really like the design, but though - hey with a bit of thought this could actually be real good. i had put it in the pending pile, but you are the second person to raise this in the last week, so it looks like i need to dig it out of the pending and give it some thought.

Sounds good Jason I have aftermarket roll bars and can't find a deflector that fits.
I was thinking a plain bit of perspex in between bar attached by simple Velcro as its really windy without anything and nothing fits.
I will try to post a pic and the gap size in between bars when it stops raining. if you ever decide to make one in mad mods.
Cheers.
Tracy.

have a look through mad mods, i have aftermarket hoops with a perspex deflector.

have you tried repositioning the window slightly as I understand after speaking with Christian that if initial zipper placement is off a couple of teeth the corners may kink slightly. Usually will be the first lower corner apparently.
Or have you tried a heat gun on the corner to shrink the plastic slightly to straighten it out? May be worth a shot either way before you buy another. Just a thought, JIM

thanks Jim, mine kinks about half way down the sides, the plastic is a lot stiffer than the original beading, it has now cracked. its my own fault for driving roof down so much:)
