You’ll need the offset (ET) number to be sure.

Z3 is between +30 to 40 to fit nicely

Stud pattern is 5x120

This is a link to the style 66 wheels
http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/66

Looks as if they are ET 20 so will probably stick out too far from the arches also E39 wheels have a larger centre hole in the wheels and will need a spigot ring to make them fit on the Z3 hubs.

This link shows how the different offsets ET affect the wheels position.

I have seen e39 5 series wheels done on a Z3.

As said will need spigot rings to make he bore size slightly smaller.

Rear width and offset generally no issue on a wide body Z3 but the fronts poke quite a bit, lots of lowering and some camber gets them to tuck in at the front.

There is a member running 5series style 32’s of the same sizes I believe, I can’t recall his id on on here but it’s a Topaz blue 2.8 in the for sale section.

I did a poor photoshop once as I really like that wheel and they quite cheap to buy used:

Of course this a photoshop so I’ve just made them fit!

I did see a pic of a Z3 with the fitted but cannot find it now.

Thanks for the knowledge and your input, even though it wasn’t what I wanted to here,

Found the thread- here is a Z3 with 5 series wheels, it’s style 32 but same width and offset as the style 66 I believe:
https://zroadster.org/threads/mor61es-topaz-2-8-z3.15959/

It’s worked here with some lowering and tyre stretch.

I can’t run my car that low but want to investigate how much camber I can run as I’d like to run some 5 series wheels - I like the style 32 and 66.
Probably need to fit a front and try I guess.

I know right. they are good looking on the Z. so is it true that the reason I cant run the wide star wheel off a Z3M is because the axles are shorter on an M and if I put them on my Z3[none M], they would stick way out.

hello friend!!!
I love the style66 rims and I see some photos of the Z3 with them and I decided to buy a set 17"x8" et20 there are just another 9" et29 (thankfully
I didn't opt for these because my z3 isn't an M). it happens that at the front they come out a little, beyond that, with
tires larger than 205/45/17 touch the mudguard plastics.
someone Can help with what!
I was thinking and I just remember that I can put the suspension arms of BMW E30 and maybe I need some camber plates...

any more ideas....

I love the look of the Z3 with these rims, please give me some help

You would be surprised what will fit in the arches, I run 265 30 20,s front and 295 30 20,s rear, with no problem, a slight trim of the plastic atop the fronts for a bit of clearance with heavy braking..It,s on rails aside from being a bit bumpy on crap roads...Oh and yer stuffed if you ever get a flat...

20 is too much for me and my problem is getting out of the car. What are the inches of width and offset?? I would prefer not to cut anything from the plastic

Im not certain of my offsets, I bought the car this way. But I was told these were custom built at a very well chosen offset at some eye watering expense ..I put the originals back on for a day, since I had those too...and nope...too vague on the road, albeit more comfortable. Each to their own I guess.. Sorry I cant be more helpful, but it gives you an idea of what you can get away with.. I can tell you though that they are 9x20 front and 10x20 rear...Offsets as I said, uncertain...

Would you even notice if you had a puncture?:whistle:30s are pretty damn low, even round here where the roads are better than many I've seen over in Ingerland I wouldn't fancy going that low.
Yeah I hear what your saying, the roads around here are very ordinary after cyclone Jasper. I,m scared of doing in a rim, a one off replacement would be costly for sure...But I like the way handles, Ill live with it... :)

For now it's done!!! I don't care about the police... it's beautiful and with the 205/40/17 tires it won't touch anywhere. For now I'm going to enjoy the car like this and with time I'll look for a solution.

I've gone down the rabbit hole and are installing some staggered Style66 wheels 17x8, 17x9 on my 1997 2.8 manual. I've installed some 20mm spacers on the original 17x7.5 and 17x8.5 wheels and they fit nice. I also have front camber plates and rear adjustable bushes so the alignment geometry is dialed in & optimised for handling. I have also selected some sticky Yokohama A052 tyres, as the current Michelin PS5 are reasonable but nothing like the Yoki's. I have them on another vintage bmw and they stick like a cat to carpet i wet or dry. I know the wear is not great but mine is an occasional use car, so I don't see the point in selecting good mileage tyres and replacing them due to age with heaps of tread left.

Really lovely wheels the Style 66 and look great on the Z but sadly the front wheels poke too much unless you are prepared to run skinny tyres or other mods.

As a rule of thumb 8.5x 1X et 41 which is equal to 8x1X et35 is the furtherest out you can have a front wheel before it starts poking out the wheel arch with correctly fitting tyres.

Another option is to run camber plates. This is to add more negative camber (inward). With this, there are also additional drawbacks which will likely be decreased tyre contact area and additional tyre wear.

The rear 17x9j et26 rear is pretty much perfect which is annoying as most 5 series fronts are 17x8 et20 which is 15mm too much poke, like these style 66s.

I run a mixed wheel setup with 17x8.5j et41 on the front and 17x9 et26 on the rear. I used the standard z3 rears on the front and use e39 fitment on the back.

If I say so myself, it's spot on.
