Wildlife corner

Yes, you certainly found it Roy, but you'll never guess what it's in.

Tony.

We have been busy in the garden refurbishing hedgehog houses, 3 of which are occupied, tidied up the bughouse, all recycled, and cleaned out the wildlife pond a bit which is full of newts. Also built a new beehive to add to the other 5. :)

Great Crested Newts are now a protected species I believe. I haven't seen a hedgehog for a while but I loved them as a kid.

You are right about the newts. Currently we have 6 hedgehogs in the garden and going by the activity every night we are about to have a lot more!

Often seen hedgehogs late at night but not seen any for a few months now, one huge one in particular. Some of of the less enlightened neighbours have blocked fences off at the bottom stopping them from getting between gardens.

However, lockdown has made one of the foxes a great deal braver. Have seen it out in the road late at night - standing its ground until I’m about 10m away. Just stands there looking. The complete lack of traffic has helped it widen its territory to the tarmac. Before you would only get a glimpse of it before it ran off into the night.

Was only discussing a wildlife pond with my wife last night, depends how long this lockdown goes on, still keeping myself busy at the minute

One of this years projects is to clean out and reline my pond, It has been a wildlife pond for about a year since I gave up the battle with the Heron. I was waiting until the weather warmed up a bit but will have to wait a bit longer now as it is a mass of tadpoles.

Is it pure white as the pic would suggest and what size is it pal
Yes all white smaller than a black bird but looks bigger than a sparrow,I don’t have the time to sit and wait just hope I get a better pic as I’m carrying the camera with me now.

We see 2/3 hedge hogs each night on our garden night camera feeding in both a house and a large plastic box with the correct size/shape hole cut in it.
Your wild life collection looks very good, we have 4 bird feeding stations and a pond netted with fish having lost gold fish and carp. Geoff

Well I have been really pi—Ed off this year because for the last
Three years I have had the pleasure of blue tits in my nest box.
Looking forward to this year even more because my daughter bought me
A bird box camera for Christmas. Brilliant! But - - - - -

we are in Brilliant!

Thats great.
We have three boxes two done seem to be being used but did not get round to cleaning out this time.We have got sparrows in a town house type in middle and top sections. Last year we saw woodpecker pecking away at the middle section and on checking it out there was a dead bird inside.

Looks like it has got a yellow marking on its back?
Or is that just a reflection?

Need a front one of the white bird pal but it's an obvious albino and doing very well to survive as they are and easy target for predators, it will more then likely be breeding in the area, live seeing nest shots, found a few today, blackcap was my fave, climbed up to a Jay's and common buzzard, also found a couple of wrens nest, the Jay's was empty
