It was a lovely sunny walk with the dog this morning. This bee was already out in the sunshine despite it being just above freezing.

Some more tonight clearing up after todays match on the lake.

After my last post unfortunately about 4.00 this morning we heard a commotion on the pond and a fox came back and took the last gosling,by the time I got my rifle out of the safe he’d made off with it. We love to watch them grow over the summer and are quite sorry to see them leave, not this year unfortunately:(

Tis nature at work. In the credit column, we still have five Moorhen chicks on the pond. We've usually lost a few by now.
The problem with foxes is they kill for the sake of it and not necessarily to eat. That said my cousin saw a fox with five cubs out in the open - city garden life for them though.

This is what happens when the chickens miss lights out in the shed.i usually go around and make sure they're all tucked in.but the one night you don't 7 of them decide to have a camp out. I know it's a business but I like the hens and they are quite innocent and friendly

The parent Bluetits were not concerned about a busy house yesterday and continued to feed their chick's even while we were all out on the Roman Ruins having our butties yesterday.
This afternoon us and Gary and Izzy were out there chatting and we watched all 4 chick's fly the nest within about half an hour.
They plucked up courage whilst the parent birds gave then encouragement.
The last one to leave made it all the way to next door's roof which was good for a first attempt at flight. Wait for the next brood now.

More bees. There seem to be fewer around this year.

They do have a face only a mother could love though don't they? Great pictures all the same mate.

Tony.

I love my wildlife and have over the past few years been very lucky with a longterm project of sticking old sections of oak and beech into the soil so that a certain critter can lay the larvae and hatch after many years, into the magnificent stag beetle. Its a thing of engineering beauty. The hinged wing covers and the wings folding out, just amazing.

Enjoy this one after it hatched and then took flight. Almost waiting for the control tower to give the off.
