Can anybody tell me why at this time of year Snails start to climb the walls of our house?
A first tonight as I took rubbish out to the bin, a homeless Snail (Slug) was having it away up the wall.

It was carefully re positioned in the field next door;). Years ago it would've ended up in a baitbox. Great Chub bait!

Slug Machismo, never thought of that mate=))

At least they're only on your walls ! I counted six ! 🙂

Yep, they used to crawl all over my Z3 but don't appear to like the Z4. So it's not just Gastropods then ............................ ?;)

Tony.

I've never had the pleasure (or displeasure ?) of trying a z4, so couldn't comment on that one yet 🙂. I'm just out of the blocks on my Z3 journey.

Here's the reason ...apparently... Not convinced though.

It happens when they're affected by a dangerous chemical or infection in the area. As their tissues go into necrosis, they give off a distinctive (to other snails, at least) scent, which warns others of danger in the area. A snail that is about to die will climb as high as he can, so that the scent spreads farther.

Why did the chicken cross the road !

Your all wrong, snails/slugs have no sense of direction hence they just go straight no matter what’s in the way.

Bit like Z3 drivers, they also have NSOD and usually go straight on at a tight corner, albeit a little faster.
On the other hand Z4 drivers:thumbsup: brake and go round.................. Not rocket science is it.!!!!!! =))

Someone said that all the snails that climb are male, cos their Mrs. drove them up the wall:thumbsup:

I'd rather like to think that they are special base-jumping slugs. A bungalow is as about as high as it get's in Lincolnshire =))

I think you’re right Ian, the Slug the other night already had a nose bleed.=))
