Why so difficult?

Don’t remember it been difficult to remove, mines had a starter button in its place for the last ten years

I remember correctly you have to take the metal part out of the orange bit. then fit the orange bit in the console first, and then push the metal part in afterwards,
There is a lug on the orange part that lines up with a slot in the console, make sure you line them up.
