DC84ECFC-4B4A-4200-A7F4-27DD18AD1657.jpeg How can replacing this little S.O.B. be so difficult!!!!!
Half an hour of pushing and twisting and it just won’t go into the hole.
Is the a special technique to this?

If I remember correctly I had a nightmare taking one out once.

Have you tried putting the orange plastic in first. Then the main core?

I found it a lot easier to fit when I had the gear lever gaitor off. One hand under and one on top. I`d destroyed the old one trying to get it out and thought the new one would be easy to fit, it wasn`t. You need to take gear knob off to take foam piece out to get your hand in. Good luck!!!

I had a struggle with mine but once I cracked it was easy, forget how I did it though, take a good look at it, I'm sure one bit locks the other with plastic tabs

Every time I have been getting into the car I have had a few minutes fighting this before setting off. It would then be sat there, hanging out on its wires just to annoy me. Needless to say, when I reached my destination another fight with the thing would ensue.
This morning I got into the car ready for another session and ... it slotted in with no trouble at all!!
    How!!! Why not before??

I remember correctly you have to take the metal part out of the orange bit. then fit the orange bit in the console first, and then push the metal part in afterwards,
There is a lug on the orange part that lines up with a slot in the console, make sure you line them up.

YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like any other magic trick, you have to say the right words. Cars are programmed for only the strongest language to do the trick. A couple of Mxxxxx Fxxxxxs and so forth and before you know it, you're saying: "Hey, that wasn't so bad." and you find yourself patting yourself on the back and are insufferably pleased with yourself.....(From the Book Of Learning")........................Frankie
