what about the hologram car stickers with Avenger / Cortina etc etc,
the red reflective plastic panels that fitted where the number plate was with the car model on.
The headrests that fitted over the seat backs with fake sheepskin on.
Cutting the middles out of chrome bumpers and fitting a square number plate
Cibie oscars and bi-oscars
wiring up additional fog lamps to the brakes.
Jacking the car up with leaf spring extenders,
Fur on the dashboard and headlining
Cutting a hole in the roof and fitting a cassette sun roof with a lift out glass panel to fit in a pillow case and put on the back seat
Sparkrite electronic ignition upgrades to get rid of the set of points
Raydot stick on heated rear window
Booster graphic equaliser amplifiers
Gunsons colortunes and strobe light guns.

not that I know these things of course.
That's a whole lot of memories right there.....

Had a set on my first car. Turned out it was to hide a hole where someone must have tried (or succeeded) to break into it =))
The trick there was simply to hammer a screw driver in to the key hole and then yank it to one side then the other and out pops the lock. I have a tool in my tool box which re-forms the lock hole in a door skin in one simple procedure.

You sure your surname isn't Halford Pete? What a lot of memories. One of the first mods I did on my Mini was fit a remote gear change which bolted to the floor and the original selector out of the gearbox and moved the gear stick right back to the seats. Cool or what? Compared with the original "pudding stirrer" type stick.

I fitted a wolf whistle horn that was tapped into the manifold and had a string to operate, not forgetting sheepskin seat covers for the seats.

The must have was a centre exit big bore back box even on a lowly 850 mini. Wheel spacers and a dodgy gear knob with mud flaps dragging the ground. Smoking roll ups and talking darn.

Not Much has changed then (well mud flaps on Z a bit questionable, the rest is all good!)
