Going on the BMW wheel database (http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/) there are 2 style 42's listed (odd to have 2 rims with the same number). One which is split rim, and one which isn't.

Kreuzspeiche meaning "cross spoke" according to Google translate.

Kreuzspeichen-Verbundrad translates as "Cross spoke composite". Guessing the composite refers to them being split rim.

Mine is the second one split rim, look great when they are all shinny and new which they will be, before the summer.
I hope haven't put the mockers on the summer now

That they do, seen a few with the centres done a different colour which looks pretty nice too. I'm a little too lazy when it comes to cleaning wheels, which is why I stuck with large 5 spoke wheels...

There are 2 types of style 42 one of them is a split rim version that's what you have. I have the same and thay are not cheap.
I'm getting mine redone as I like them, keep yours.

Thank you for the info. I've had them professionally refurbished since this photo was taken, which cost me £125 a wheel but they looked incredible and really made the car stand out. On the downside they're a pain to clean. lol

Im just waiting for the new bolts to come for the split rims, the wheel people have order them.
They quoted £110 each wheel plus the bolts so about the same as you, he said he could reuse the bolts, but I thought if I'm paying all that money for the wheels I won't scrimp with old bolts.
The alloy wheel people did say, if I was to get new ones I would not get much change from £2000 if any. so good investment.
Just need a new wheel cleaning brush by the sound of it:(

Yep, used split rim BBS style 42's got for around £1k on eBay. Any that have been referb'd and painted cool combo colours go for even more.

Thanks Kit, Wow! £2000. I knew they were expensive. Mine were on the car when I bought it but were in a poor state. When I was quoted £500 by the wheel Refurbishers I've got to be honest I was a little ignorant about their value and said to the guy I could buy a new set of wheels for £500. He smiled and said for £500 you wouldn't get anything like these and offered straight away to buy them if I was going to get new ones. I sort of knew then they must be worth a lot more than I thought and booked them straight in to be done. I' ve got through a few cleaning brushes since then.lol
