My original is 70ah/570, so guessing they lob in whatever they have at the time. Replacement is 72ah/650.I just noticed that the original battery quotes 80Ah but only 640CCA

I would agree Ian, whilst it's possible, battery failure during the warmer months of the year it is extremely rare.It will be fine I would have thought especially if it's used regularly or garaged. Cranking a 3L 6 pot after a cold night when it's been stood for a week needs a little extra umph!
Probably right there Gary. I suspect some territories they will need higher power batteries and others less so. Sometimes you just get what's in the bin. I might just have got one destined for the arcticMy original is 70ah/570, so guessing they lob in whatever they have at the time. Replacement is 72ah/650.
Rac batteries are made by Varta so should be pretty good.Thats just what I was hoping for. Arranged for fitting first thing this morning but the guy on the van called to say they no longer do the battery I ordered off the RAC website. Waiting for the outcome.... Am expecting to be offered an equivalent replacement at the same price.
Simple cock-up by a product manager I suspect but frustrating none the less.
I just noticed that the original battery quotes 80Ah but only 640CCA. While its a higher Ah rating its much less than the new batteries on the CCA.
That's bad news.Just to re ignite this thread, tried my car after we got home and unloaded the oil burner. Nothing doing, battery as flat as a witches tit!. Didn't have this problem last year when we got home at the cooler end of the year.
After looking today it has an Exide battery, obviously non gen. so has been replaced at some point. Can't see a fitting date but will have a better look tomorrow and what it's rated at.
Tony.
What...no brew up Tony...burst pipe round near our stop tap...
Somebody is trying to tell you somethingPrimarily just lack of use Ian, but will probably need replacing come back end when it gets cool quick.
Tony.
ps. Not the worst thing to greet us - no water by 4.00pm and burst pipe round near our stop tap.
It's a long, long story. Starting back in 1979 when we bought the plat Ian. I shall be having words with Anglian Water tomorrow.Somebody is trying to tell you something

Er, how about 25 quid?Comes with a 1e month warranty. If it fails just after I've lost nowt.
Very good.Ok Folks.. trick number one.. register an account details online with either Euro Car Parts or one of the other motor factors... Place the said item in your basket but do not proceed to purchase it. Keep an eye on your email inbox over the coming days.. Normally you will get an offer drop in which says, you forget something or can we help you... here is a 10% discount of you want to purchase your basket.. Then wait for the weekend code to appear. Use both codes and sit back with he extra discount. I purchased some oil from ECP.. Got the 10% plus and extra 33% for the weekend code and it was on offer too. result.
Oh erm yes £25!Er, how about 25 quid?
