Hi All....

I have to travel to Italy for work the next 2 weeks and as I have never driven the Alps I have decided to take the car... I am setting off on Saturday and getting the Eurotunnel over and then heading towards Dijon For an overnight stay. On the Sunday I am getting up and driving over / through the alps towards Turin and then to my final destination which is Savona (Vado Ligure)... the question is:

Which route from Dijon to Savona should I take... looking for options and any advise.

Thanks Bert

We have done one or two alpine passes and if you’re travelling toward Turin really you have two main choices and for your first go I would highly recommend the grand stbernard pass from Martigny to Aosta this is the pass that is featured on the Italian job it is obligatory to have Matt monroe playing “on days like these”on the stereo.Turn west again from Aosta toward Courmayeor and then over the piccolo St. Bernard pass to Bourg saint Maurice very different but equally amazing from bourg saint Maurice follow the sat nav it’s a lovely drive.

Just a quick look and they both may be closed failing those options and you would like something equally special I would head for the cirque de Combe laval west of Grenoble that will be open

Think the majority of passes will be closed until end of May due to snow.
Possibly best route

Pfft we’ve got better than that here on the Kent downs =))

@bertiejaffa dont forget the insurance green card and International Driver permit in case of a no deal.

I’ve checked my RAC breakdown cover and that will still apply in the event of a no deal. The actual car insurance however will change to minimum level of cover though - trust the insurers to milk it

So envious sounds like a great trip which ever route you choose, furthest I get to travel with work is Ramsgate
Have a great time .
