Was jealous of my brother who is 5 years older, so got behind the wheel way before I did. He started off with a MK1 Escort then upgraded to a Morris Ital...

Sold Z3M
thats a hell of a first car......
Times were good in the household and wanted to move on from big bikes, loved it and had it in the garage for 9 years.
Did loads of miles in it and also hundreds of trackdays, when they cost £ 27.00 for a full day on real race tracks not airfields.
Then sold it for peanuts which was mad as one sold recently for over £ 26,000 exactly the same model and colour as
mine, had to do a double take to check it wasn't my old car.

Back when I had hair and drove a beige car with beige interior . A mighty 1984 MK1 Astra 1.2... Taken a mere 23 years ago, and I still retain most of my youthful looks today!

My first car was a blue version of this. A Vanden Plas 1300. It was bought by my father as a pool car between my sister and I. We used to fight to the death over it at a weekend! I caused more family disharmony than he could possibly have envisaged.

Walnut dash with picnic tables in the rear that folded out. A sort of mini Rolls Royce, very impressive! Apart from the fact that I broke down in this car more than any other I've ever had... It was dreadful. Every trip was a walk on the wildside! It kept throwing universal joints, breaking oil pipes and the electrics were obviously installed by an apprentice on his first day. No wonder that Lucas were nicknamed "The Prince of Darkness".

Should you ever feel the urge to ownership my advice would be to lie in a darkened room.

Very happy days though.

:)
