I had a late model 2.0 MG Maestro as a company car. I drove it mercilessly hard for over 80,000 miles and apart from servicing, brakes and tyres it needed nothing. Maybe I was lucky to get a properly assembled one, but it was one of the best cars I've ever had.
My Dad used to get Maestros as company cars too ~ he started with an HLS and as the company cut back on costs ended up with a Clubman diesel. He had 5 in total and did 100,000+ miles over 2 years in each one ~ again like you regular service and consumables, no problems, he loved them

Some nice photos there. I've got a real soft spot for Rootes/Chrysler cars. Love the red Hunter GLS. Quick car in its day.

I used to work at a Rooted garage just after they were renamed Chrysler in the late 70's.

A mate of mine was an apprentice around that time at Canterbury Motor Company, a big Rootes/Chrysler dealer. I used to go and see him there on his lunch break. Memorable cars that they looked after included a yellow Rapier H120, a metallic purple Hunter GLS, a gold Sunbeam Stiletto, various Avenger GTs and GLSs (never saw a Tiger), and a silver Simca 1501S - an odd pick maybe, but I always thought them quite stylish. Happy days.....

That Rover SD1 got my pulse racing when I see it on the list, I had a v8 as a first car when I passed my test, jesus it was bloody fast, I was single then and it had loads of room, the only down side was the velours seats was a bit of a give away ;)

You may remember going through a village near Gainsborough on our run a couple of years ago Sean, there was an SD1 in a yard? A few weeks ago when I gave Chaz Ricorn an extended play in my car we went through Springthorpe and that SD1 is now stripped to a bare shell looking like it undergoing a restoration. Hope it's the Vitesse model.

Tony.
