Wheeler dealers

Not through any mechanical knowledge but from what I’ve seen and read people like to do a “belt and braces fix” and I’m not sure it needs it.As from what I’ve seen the problem seems to start with flex at the diff hanger and confined to a small area and progresses from there cutting out that flex would save the spot welds and the resultant tearing .its not that this is a problem on every car and many live their lives without a fix .You May say it transfers the problem to somewhere else on the chassis but that would be ok

There's a reason for two fans to be fitted as t-tony says if in doubt fit a new clutch fan it's not a big job to change

I did a hell of a lot of chassis welding (to MOT standard back when I worked for myself Pete) and although what Ant did would obviously pass the MOT test it wasn't the best structural job.

Tony.

If you look closely he didn’t join it all to the chassis rails at the back so the weak point still exists. He’s strengthened the middle.

Then again on the flip side it’s only the S52 so not much different to our M54 3.0 the boot floor was fine to begin with, it took him some going to remove the diff ear.

Reactions: Lee
I bet @Lee put @swamper ’s car through a ‘more thorough’ test drive on the Basingstoke ring road than they did on that track =)) =)) =)) =)) =))
There's no bet about it....the words were ..."I was trying to get it to break traction".....😳
But we know @Lee can't help it....its just in his nature...😈
