Wheel speed sensor error is it the ‘ABS’ sensor?

im being dogged by ABS+ASC lights coming on intermittently.

Car was at the garage last week. The front drivers side was not the issue (the one that was damaged and replaced). it was a rear sensor the time. It did not need a new sensor but was a dodgy connection I believe.

Car is back home and next day I start it and guess what - lights on again (and reduced rev limit).
My code reader say ‘wheel speed sensor’ - I’m assuming this is the ABS sensor but want to check?

After ‘clearing’ the code with my reader the lights stayed on but the rev limit returned to normal for a short 5min drive before cutting in at 5,5k rpm again.

Just musing our loud until it goes back to the garage again.
Any thoughts?

I had the light on, on my 2.0l, @Paul Rice put his code reader on and it gave the actual one that was at fault, mine was the N/S rear and it even gave the part number.

I believe the early 2.8 like mine gives a lot less info than than the newer models so needs a proper code reader which he garage has - my reader did say rear I think but I need to look up the code.

I had exactly the same problem. Both ABS and ASC came on while driving.
It was a dirty wheel sensor, which corrected itself, and the lights went out.
I never did know which one caused it, but I cleaned all the sensors and connections and it’s been ok ever since
