The first thing to consider is which wheels you are looking at? This is first before thinking about spacers and tyre.

The tyre sizes you are looking at are not quite correct for a Z3.

With a BMW oem staggered fitment which is
Front 7.5j et41 with rear 8.5j et41. 225/45/17with 245/40/17 tyres.

This setup requires no front spacer. The rear can easily take 20mm and probably more to get a nicer stance should you wish.

Got other wheels in mind with different fit? Post em up. 😎

My wheels are standard 7j x 16 with 225 50 16 tyres. I believe the offset is et46. My calculations suggest a 15mm spacer would push them out to the same outer position as the 8.5j et41? Are you suggesting a 20mm spacer is ok to use without adversely affecting the suspension geometry of the rear axle?

Are you changing to different 17 inch wheels?

Spacers in general do this but 20mm will be fine for the rear.

I may do eventually but for the time being I’ll stick with my 16” but just wanted to change the appearance and fill out the rear arches hence the spacers

My Z3 was on 16" rims. Not sure why Scooblitz says " This setup requires no front spacer. " because the rears don't really require a spacer either. They just make the car look better Front and Rear.

Just didn’t understand why you say the fronts don’t require spacers, after all the rears don’t need them usually fitted for appearance sake?

It's a Confusing thread but I was referencing not particularly needing front spacers on a 17x7.5j et41 for the front.

Difference is around 10mm. 17x7.5j et41 vs a 16x7 et46 (guessing the offset).

Could use a 10mm spacer to bring it out like the 17s stance but if feeling wild, I think a 20mm spacer on the front would still tuck under the front arch.

So you are right there Tony.

I need to read things more closely.

I was only wondering if I had missed something myself. I run 14mm on the front of my Z4 which I previously had on my Z3. I felt that having shoved the rears out by 20mm it might look odd leaving the fronts tucked under the wings, so I opted for 14mm on the fronts.
I did have some nice pictures of my Z3 after fitting them but I lost a load of stuff when I got another PC.:(

i’ve just fitted some 20mm spacers to the rear of my Z3, I have 8.5 x18 rear wheels with 255 x 35 x 18 tyres and the spacers bring the wheel out to the edge of the arch making the wheel look much better, I will leave the fronts as they are at the moment with no spacers. I paid a little extra to get a better spacer off eBay, I wasn’t too keen on putting extended bolts with a 20mm spacer, just personal preference.
The silver bolts are used to attach the spacer to the hub and the original black bolts attach the wheel to the spacer/hub, job done and very pleased.

Got an eaby link for those bad boys fella? Or manufacturer/shop name to search for? Thanks in advance.

I think all wheel spacers for what they are are quite pricey - usually £50+ a pair.

Hello Woodsta,
the seller is rmsoutlet my spacers were pence under £50, as you stated not cheap but the quality is exceptional.
