Don't know if anyone out there can help on this one. I am looking to refurb the rear suspension on my Z3, part of which will include replacing the rear bearings.
Looking on real OEM, the part number quoted is 33 41 6 762 317
I work in the automotive industry and asked a colleague who works on cars in his spare time if he could get me some based on this part number. He kindly obliged and presented me with two FAG bearings - part number 713 6493 90
However, when I look on Autodoc, they say this bearing is not compatible with the Z3, but they do list the correct part number with this product.
Not sure if things were right, I purchased two bearings from Autodoc that say they are compatible with the Z3 - in this case Febi bearings - part number 26309
I started to check the bearings to see is I could find any differences and I have. Measuring the OD of the bearing with a micrometer, the FAG bearing is circa 75.01mm diameter, but the Febi is 75.06mm diameter. This translate to about 2 thou inch bigger. With a push in interference fit 2 thou is quite a lot.
Just for comparison I measured the bearings that I took out of the donor arms which are off a Japanese import. These were cheap KOYO Japanese bearings, but measure the same as the FAG products.
Not sure where to go here and why two products with the same BMW part number are not suitable for the same vehicle and are in fact different sizes.
The questions is - which are right and which bearings should I fit?
