Recently added a 2001 Z3 M54 to our garage and came across what appears to be the former location of, I'm guessing, two labels under the bonnet. One on each side just forward of the driver and passenger doors. The car spent the last 18 years in the hot, dry climate of central Texas. I suppose that would explain the remaining cracked adhesive on the sheet metal. This is a North American model so not sure if European examples would match these.
Thanks

Craig

They're just clear film stickers. Absolutely no idea of their purpose. Someone posted on here about them a few weeks ago.

So, you're saying it was simply a clear piece of vinyl with no printing or logos what so ever?

They are some kind of very thin 'protection' stickers/ foam. Nothing written on them. Yours have baked and cracked. I can't see what use they have either.

Yes, thanks for the parts numbers. On my parts website they were referred to as foil protectors. Oddly, right side was almost twice the cost of left side. Remnants of previous foils appear to be almost identical size and shape.

So, with a plastic scraper, Goo Gone and some good old fashioned elbow grease, remnants of dried protective foils were completely removed.
Plastic scraper was rhe biggest help here. No damage to paint whatsoever.
