This is the scariest picture I ever took. Some of you have seen it before. It is of a forum member (center left, black jacket and red cap)@miller1098 . One slip, and a mile down before you stop.............. (the Grand Canyon).................Frankie

Don't have the pic @FRANKIE but mine was of a similar ilk at the same place (ish). On our visit an Australian guy asked me to take a few pictures of him standing out on a tiny protruding ledge! I think I went white! There were also a few young girls that were leaning over the edge taking selfies :nailbiting::arghh:
As you say, a long way down!

Shame really as he had a great camera

I don't have the picture on my phone however I went hiking in California a few years back and for those that don't know there basically a huge rock called half dome...

You can climb the top of this via this very very steep 'Ladder'

And then once at the top there a disgustingly exposed rock hanging over the edge, knick named 'the diving board', which is as much information you need to put you off haha.
This is just a Google image but it gives you an idea of the selfie I have somewhere....

Not sure but time certainly used to slow down. Haha.
I don't mind heights generally but I think once at the top for the first time and for the first few minutes my a*** would be twitching like a rabbits nose!

We never got the pics but doing shaft exams in the middle of winter from the cage top made you think a bit as you looked over the side and 700m to the lights at the bottom.
I have a pic somewhere of lowering a 45 tonne machine down and as we landed it in the bottom especially as somebody rode down on it to guide it. All good fun.

I worked on this as a structural engineer, nothing like the other posts, and I am not scared of heights. but scared of people falling (not me) working with the people who built these structures was not funny, as soon as they found out it panicked me they done some rotten tricks to get my A*** Twitching, Worst one was a guy working on top of the pier faked a fall when I was close, fell for 6 meters before the harness stopped him, a brave man to have done that, but I was shaking for a week.

One of my guys let out about 3ft of slack on a rope rescue training day just as I'd assumed the position out over the ledge from the top of the tower. I swiftly called for my brown trousers!

Or, as Billy Connelly used to say, manhole cover, half a crown, manhole cover, half a crown. When he took a glider flight down under.
