Having had a go at the Mike Fishwicks are inlet modification which has produced some excellent results, I'm thinking of staying with the stock air filter box.

Question then is....what should I do with this, as it seems (from reading many threads) that all it will do is produce noise?

Any advice welcome.

No not just noise, read a couple of threads about the difference getting decent air flow makes.

They are generally not that good for increasing power, but getting a better supply of air in to the engine is definitely a good thing. They can be a bit of a placebo as you think you have more power, but it's generally that the engine runs better. My 2.0 with a Simota revved much smoother than and pulled better through the revs than without it.

My Zed does run much better since doing the mod. I used the method of routing a large 68mm pipe from under the fog light (facing forwards) into the air box and can definetly feel the difference. Revs smoothly and wickedly quick all the way up to the redline. Previously I used to feel it pull from about 3000rpm.
My point now is whether I can use the KN Filter and pipe.
I've read a lot of posts on the effect both negative and positive and I'm heading down the route of replacing the stock element with something like a pipercross foam element.
I suppose the only way is to try it out and see.
As for the air supply itself though....no issues

If the inlet pipe is under the fog light, you may run the risk of sucking water into the induction system. Should you go through a deepish puddle, that is the reason I abandoned that idea.

Some our roads around here are bad but not bad enough for deep puddles. I am careful when it comes to potholes. I've also had a better look and I think this could be done better as it is a squeeze, but I'm happy with it for the moment.
Given that, I've no need for the filter and pipe, so if anyone wants to make me an offer....?
