Evening all,

I've been looking for info on relays tonight (not the Olympic type).

I have an impressive box of them, but struggle to find their use(s)

Anyone have a link to a list?

The query arises as I'm trying to 100% identify what one is needed for the heated seats to work?

Thanks

As an aside, I am to electrics what Bryl Cream is to Kojack, apologies if I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick.

Cheers @Andy McDonnell I was hoping for a list of what Z3 specific relays do.

But thanks for taking the time to search. I am great at taking cars apart, not so hot when putting them back together!

Andy search t'other site for thread 'confused! relays' and BrianH has a great description of what relays do what.

If for a facelift car there is no relay for the heated seats as it is built into the switch the pre cars have the relay

I believe a facelift too.

It's a member on here so if they want to they may identify themselves.

Thanks for your help
It's been a while since I looked at heated seat circuits but from what I can remember the face lift cars do not need a separate unloaded relay for the heated seats just the facelift heated seat switches. If it is a pre facelift car then there, are a few relays that cam be used as unloaded relays. essentailly you are looking for an orange relay or light blue relay with the following circuits printed in the side.

Pre facelift, If you look at the socket in the fuse box you will see that the terminals are numbered, Look at the bottom of the relay you will also see that terminals are numbered, choose the correct orientation for the relay and check that the numbers match up before connecting.
