The regal and mondeo are somewhat questionable 🤣
To be fair the Mondeo was a 1.8 Diesel and one of the best cars for power and reliabilty I ever had, pulled the Caravan very well.

Had loads of cars, but wish I still had? Well, the Mk3 Triumph GT6 I had in the early 70 s and sold for £800 would be one. A chap at the show at Castle Howard had just bought his, same colour etc, for £20,000 !!! And more recently my topaz Z3 2.8 facelift which had only 35k miles on it when I sold it. :banghead:

I'm only messing with you we all have our own reasons for these car's we're picking be it for it's performance, looks, reliability, or just the fond memories mine are towards the ones that used to put a big silly grin on my face 😁 in which case I should really add my Cooper S because you just can't beat a supercharged Go Cart

One thing I'm loving about this thread is the old photos. Old cars are super cool but the slightly out of focus picture with the yellowy Orange tint.

That's just how color photos were back in the early days of color photography. Love it.

I'm not a photo nerd. But I am a nostalgia junkie. I just love the look the smell and the feel of those old days - he said from the comfort of his air conditioned office with feet up sipping tippy assam.

I mentioned "matra bagheera". Just wanted to post a picture in case anyone doesn't know what one is. Quite rare. Not because they were special but because they were sh*te. You couldn't go anywhere in one and expect to arrive with clean hands. It was guaranteed to break down on any day with the letter 'd' in it. And had absolutely no rust protection

Bought mine from main dealer in Hildesheim. And it failed TUV for excessive corrosion two years later.

So I do miss those days. They were good times. But the bagheera doesn't make it onto my list if cars I wish I still had.

Or . . .

Bought a MK2 Escort Mexico in '76 and sold it 4 years later for £200 less than paid, wish I still had that alongside the RS2000 that replaced it, parked next to the XR3 that was replaced by a Sierra 4X4 2.8 with a turbo technics kit and full Cosworth body and wheels kit, that was special.
Bit of a Ford theme, but all the other cars have been less entertaining until BMWs were found.
Not sure what it is that makes the Z3 so precious, it's not the fastest or the most comfortable car I've ever had but can't see it being parted with any time soon.

my car list is pitiful in comparison,

the only three I wish I had still are Fiesta mk1 1300S silver with a blue stripe - fun but not fast,
Volvo S70 2.5T (not the 2.3 R) was so comfy and quick for an undertaker's car
mk1 Escort 1300E in purple velvet metallic, loved that colour, car was a bit holey though, it did get a 1600 crossflow out of my cousin's mk1 capri though as i blew the original motor, my cousin took out the 1600 and put a cleveland V8 in it with jag IRS and rear tubs. No idea if he has any pics.

If you are into the custom world you will still see his stuff today as he had two front cover cars last year, I am not into Willys myself but they do look great.

Dave

oh and if my mrs was on here she would love her Volvo 245 back. Bricks have a bit of following still. If I had the cash, skill I would EV an old brick. Would be a wicked sleeper. and you could kip in the back. sleeper x 2

My first car at age 17, was a 10 year old MK1 Escort. It cost £200 borrowed off my parents, I paid them back £10 a month.
I then bought a MK IV Spitfire, 1300 with overdrive! The Spitfire definitely has my fondest memories, here’s a picture of a road trip to France where I proposed to my wife, we’ll be celebrating our ruby next year.
My brother has recently bought a Spitfire, it feels so small now, even against my Z3.
